The XCR is our first triathlon bike, built with everything we and our partners Swiss Side know about aero. It’s like a chef’s signature dish, the ultimate expression of our craft and creativity.
Aided by Swiss Side, our engineers set out to build a bicycle that creates a powerful emotional response in everyone who rides it… an experience you’ll remember. Based on external and internal testing, it’s also one of the most aerodynamic bikes in its category.
We’re proud to say the XCR is already being ridden by some of the world’s top athletes.
Denis Chevrot, twice European champion in full-distance Ironman, not only competes on the XCR TRI but also played a key role in its design. This co-development with elite athletes is crucial for VAN RYSEL, providing unique and invaluable insights to ensure the bike perfectly meets every athlete's needs.
Swiss Side has been at the leading edge of aerodynamic design for more than 50 years.
Our team of designers and engineers drew on Swiss Side’s in-depth expertise, and combined it with our obsession with making you faster. The end result is a recipe for speed and success.
It was crucial that this bike be able to beat the best, so we first tested three of the top triathlon bikes to establish which was fastest. Let’s call the top dog ‘benchmark 1’.
At 45 kilometres per hour in the wind tunnel, the XCR saves 3.4 watts against benchmark 1 when both are equipped with front and rear 80mm wheels. It saves 2.8 watts when the rear is replaced with a disc wheel.
Carbon layup is part art, part science, part magic. It’s what gives a carbon fibre frame its stiffness, but also its lasting durability. It’s the most secret of ingredients required to make the XCR.
What we can tell you is the stiffness of key points on the frame, thanks to the unique way our high modulus carbon fibres were combined.
Head tube: 151N/mm
Bottom bracket: 225N/mm
Chainstay: 69N/mm
Not only is the XCR incredibly streamlined, it’s also light enough not to weigh you down on undulating courses.
The XCR TRI frame in size M weighs 1,493g. All XCR models use the same carbon fibre fork, weighing 470g.
We offer two versions of the triathlon-focused XCR: the TRI ULTEGRA DI2 and the TRI RIVAL AXS. Both are engineered to deliver you to the finish line fastest.
The TRI model was created to give you every advantage on the bike leg of your next triathlon. It has a tri-specific cockpit, with a greater range of adjustability. This is because triathlon bike legs tend to be relatively longer, and comfort is of a greater priority so athletes can maintain their position in the extensions.
The XCR TRI features a bento box for storing up to six gels, and two water bottle mounts – one between the bars and one behind the seat.
The TRI frame also sees the inclusion of a toolbox for storing a flat repair kit above the bottom bracket on the non-drive side, plus a trash box to ensure you can store used wrappers without disrupting your position.
The XCR TRI RIVAL AXS uses the same frame designs as the TRI ULTEGRA DI2 model, but does not feature the toolbox at the bottom of the frame.
