In an environmental and ultra-customization logic, our teams have joined forces with Autodesk to imagine the road bike kit of the future.
This kit is the genesis of a new way of thinking and creating.
Generative Design will allow us to design to measure to offer better, lighter, airier products.
Today, carbon is used mainly in our bicycles but also in the soles of our shoes. It is a non-renewable material, and it is impossible to offer a second life after use.
Our ambition is to demonstrate that we can do things differently, while retaining the qualities that carbon offers.
In working on the vision of the road bike of tomorrow, our objectives were to imagine, study and prototype the perfect cyclist's kit by meeting various criteria:
The design teams from Van Rysel, Decathlon Advanced Design and Autodesk focused on the bike's fork and frame first before working on the helmet and shoe.
We wanted to produce the smartest fork possible by minimising its weight, and maximising its aerodynamics and strength.
By introducing artificial intelligence into the design process, thousands of possibilities emerged to meet our goals: this is what we call Generative Design.
After calculating and modelling the shapes, we moved on to the prototyping phase in 3D printing. Although this approach is primarily experimental, our ambition is to move more and more towards this solution for the future of our products.
